Mapping Locations - Cornwall
Taking the studio outside is a great way to expand and extend ideas I’m exploring, or find new ones away from my usual environment.
One location was Poltesco, Cornwall. I used a series of square perspex sheets to map discrete areas.
I looked at how it is possible to interrupt a ‘usual’ surface by altering certain elements within it. For instance I placed beach pebbles in a straight line at regular intervals, it caused a visual disruption to the beach’s normal arrangement.
The perspex was my ‘drawing’. Laid across a series of locations the perspex became my grid of reference.
A tower of perspex sheets added different dimensions to the grid references.
