Underfoot
Barcelona was hosting the Olympic Games when I moved into a tiny apartment in the Gothic Quarter.
Colour coded footprint shapes and other signs had been painted on roads and pavements to mark Olympic routes. For a year after the Olympic games had faded away these underfoot signs remained as part of the City's visual landscape.
I enjoyed the notion that signs seperated from their original purpose were like a form of archeological history in the making.
Later the Olympics were to have more personal meaning for me. I was one of two artists who represented Britiain in Artiade (Olympics of Visual Art) in Athens.
