About the Score Drawings

In the score drawings I made intersecting lines and shapes with paint and ink over the inherent grid-like structure of musical notation o sheet music.  I’d replenished my original horde of old, and sometimes tattered, sheet music in Tywyn in 2010 after running out of my original horde.

The title 'Score' not only nods to the grid-like nature of the music sheets but also refers to the act of 'scoring' onto the paper. With these drawings it felt like I was composing a visual melody of my own. Each piece in this collection is testament to the rhythmic harmony found within the artistic process, strokes and marks come together to create a symphony of visual expression.
