About Document - Paintings

In the Document paintings, I explored the nature of communication by drawing parallels among various culturally related references. I considered echoes of written documents, weathered advertising hoardings, and the rapid changes seen on electronic monitors.

Before digital advertising took over, I enjoyed seeing paper advertising hoardings with their fragmented layers, where missing sections created new images and mixed messages. Transition effects in TV and film can evoke a similar effect, while older written documents often exhibit unintended palimpsest qualities. Whatever the intended message, I felt the real one was that time takes everything.
