About Document - Paintings

Context:

In Document paintings, I was thinking of the nature of communication by drawing parallels among various culturally related references, echoes of written documents, weathered advertising hoardings, and the rapid changes seen on electronic monitors.

Before digital advertising took over, paper advertising hoardings with their fragmented layers, where missing sections created new images with mixed messages. Transition effects in TV and film can evoke a similar effect, while older written documents often exhibit unintended palimpsest qualities. Whatever the intended message, I felt the real one was that time takes everything.
