Now & Then Now

While the lakes at Cregennan are special, it is the surrounding landscape that nestle in my mind. A place is bound up in the sensation held by one of its micro-areas: a particular part of the landscape, experienced in its own right, with its own qualities and presence. It is through this particularity that my connection to a site is rooted.

The paint-skins made for Cregennan establish areas of distinct character across the surface, through their textures, folds, edges and densities. Each contributes to the work through its particular qualities and the relationships it forms with the others. Together, these relationships bring the work into being as a whole.
