What follows was written in 2020:
Arcadia is mostly an idea of a region or scene of simple pleasure and quiet.
Sometimes in the night when I am drawing I have the sensation of being in Arcadia. Yet even there, possibly because of the dark and stillness of night, I am reminded of the Latin phrase: Et in Arcadia Ego, translated as: I (death) too am present in Arcadia.
Strangely, that thought banishes any night monsters trying to stalk me. Drawing confounds the monsters, they don’t know what to do, so they slink away and Arcadia becomes a place of meditative drawing.
