After a bereavement and a studio relocation, the pandemic brought a sense of stillness and surrealism. For a year I worked on the paintings now called 'Days In' Series, letting each painting slowly unfold. I did not plan there would be monthly paintings, it just turned out that way. I used paint-skins from my old studio. The skins brought their own liminal qualities and served as metaphors for the hiatus between life with a lifetime partner and a new life alone, the old and new studio, and a whole world where ‘normal’ seemed lost.
