Sight of a small memorial stone erected next to a country road near my studio in 2000 quickly caught my attention. Forgotten and nondescript places where significant events pique my interest so I investigated.
This commemoration stone marks the location where the first successful trial of radar took place in 1939, this served as inspiration for my painting series of the same name.
The Birth of Radar series depicts a whirlwind of vibrant colours, seemingly emanating from a central point, evoking a magnetic and circuitous journey to a tantalizingly mysterious yet impenetrable destination.
Anglia Television news made a news feature of the memorial including some WW11 Battle of Britain footage, it also showed the paintings and an interview about them..
